The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a scheme designed by the Nigerian government to promote unity, national integration, and youth development. 

Every Nigerian graduate is required to partake in this one-year program as a prerequisite for entering the job market or engaging in other professional endeavors in the country. 

Proper documentation is essential for a seamless registration process.

General Requirements for All Prospective Corps Members

  1. Personal Email and Phone Number:
    • A valid and functional email address and Nigerian (GSM) telephone number are essential for communication during the registration process.
  2. Biometric Verification:
    • Registration by proxy is prohibited. Prospective corps members must undergo biometric capturing during online registration and at the orientation camp. Failure to complete biometric verification will result in non-registration.
  3. Passport Photograph:
    • The passport photograph must meet the following specifications:
      • Full face visibility (eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and jaw) without bending.
      • The picture should fill the frame and be centralized.
      • Background should be white or off-white with no shadows.

Requirements for Locally-Trained Graduates

  1. Senate/Academic Board Approved Result List:
    • Only graduates whose names appear on the Senate/Academic Board Approved Result lists submitted by their institutions to NYSC are eligible to register.
  2. JAMB Registration Number:
    • A valid Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration number is required.

Requirements for Foreign-Trained Graduates

Foreign-trained graduates must ensure their institutions are accredited. If in doubt, they should approach the Federal Ministry of Education for verification and obtain a letter of evaluation, which must be uploaded during registration.

The following documents are required:

  1. Academic Qualifications:
    • Original First Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) certificate.
    • Complete official transcript of the first degree or HND program.
    • O’level certificate (WASC, GCE, SSCE, NECO, IGCE, GCSE, or equivalent) with credit in at least five subjects, including English and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.
    • For graduates from Indian universities, a marksheet is required.
  2. Travel Documents:
    • Original Nigerian International Passport showing:
      • Personal data page.
      • Entry visa to the country of study.
      • First departure date from Nigeria.
      • Date of return to Nigeria after studies.
  3. Professional Licenses (if applicable):
    • Medical graduates (e.g., doctors, pharmacists, nurses) must present a Certificate of Registration and Practicing License from the relevant professional bodies.
  4. Translation of Documents:
    • Certificates not written in English must be translated, and both the original and translated
