Abuja, Nigeria – April 10, 2025 – Over 211,000 candidates across Nigeria participated in the 2025 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Wednesday.
This figure represents approximately 10.4% of the total 2,030,627 applicants expected to sit for the main UTME scheduled for April 25.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this while monitoring the mock examination at a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre in Bwari, Abuja. He revealed that the results of the mock test would be released on Friday, April 11.
“They will have the results tomorrow. The results will be ready. For those who finished, we are working now on their results, but we want to compare them with the second batch, the third batch, and so on. But by tomorrow, they will have the results,” Oloyede stated.
Speaking on the purpose of the mock examination, the JAMB boss explained that the exercise was designed to assess the board’s preparedness for the main UTME and to test new strategies aimed at improving the examination process.
“We are doing certain things to ensure that those things are done. So, we are trying to make sure that when we go for the main exam, we will have taken lessons from the mock level,” he added.
Oloyede also warned candidates against patronising fraudulent websites and individuals promising assistance in the examination, stressing that hard work and adequate preparation remain the only ways to succeed.
“We need to let the students know that the best way to pass the UTME is to study. We are aware of some rogue websites asking people to pay so they can help,” he said.
To counter these fraudulent platforms, JAMB has set up a decoy website to identify and monitor candidates attempting to cheat. According to Oloyede, about 180 students had already fallen victim to the trap as of Wednesday morning.
He advised all candidates to avoid any form of malpractice and rely solely on their preparation for success in the forthcoming examination.
