In a renewed drive to enhance professionalism and investigative efficiency, the Kano State Police Command has launched a specialized capacity-building training program for officers and personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The training, which commenced on Tuesday, April 29, aligns with a broader directive from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at equipping police personnel with the critical skills needed for effective investigation and prosecution.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the initiative is designed to develop a well-trained, motivated police force capable of addressing contemporary security challenges.

Key sessions during the training included: “Eliminating Corruption in the NPF,” delivered by Assistant Commissioner of Police CID, ACP Muhammad Wada Jarma; “Extortion and Other Unethical Conduct,” presented by ACP Mohammed B. Suleiman of the X-Squad; and “Cybersecurity Awareness,” led by Mr. Jessy John from the Cyber-Safe Youth Initiative Organization.

In his address, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, commended the resource persons and encouraged participating officers to fully embrace the training as an opportunity to sharpen their investigative skills.

“This is not only a chance to learn but also to refresh your knowledge and stay updated with advancements in the field,” CP Bakori stated.

During the event, CP Bakori received an award from the Cyber-Safe Youth Initiative in recognition of his exceptional contributions to promoting digital security within the police force. He dedicated the award to the dedicated officers and personnel of the Command, remarking, “This award strengthens our resolve to tackle emerging security threats and reaffirms our commitment to safeguarding citizens in the digital era.”

He further noted that similar training programs would be conducted regularly across various departments to keep pace with the evolving landscape of modern policing.

The Command reiterated its commitment to initiatives like this, which aim to enhance the investigative capabilities of its officers and ultimately ensure a safer and more secure environment for all residents.
