The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results for the 2025 first series of the Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates, commonly known as WAEC GCE. The announcement was made by the Head of National Office (HNO) of WAEC Nigeria, Dr. Amos Angut, in a statement issued by the Head of Public Affairs, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina.
Exam Overview & Candidate Statistics
According to WAEC, the examination was conducted nationwide across 143 centers between Wednesday, January 29, and Saturday, February 15. A total of 9,054 candidates participated, consisting of 4,384 males (48.42%) and 4,670 females (51.58%).
Out of the total candidates:
✅ 2,441 candidates (26.96%) obtained credit and above in at least five mandatory subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, which are essential for university admission.
✅ 8,651 candidates (95.55%) have had their results fully processed and released.
✅ 403 candidates (4.45%) have a few subjects still being processed due to errors attributed to them.
✅ 56 candidates (0.62%) have their results withheld over alleged exam malpractice. These candidates can file complaints and provide proof of innocence via the WAEC complaints portal: https://waecinternational.org/complaints.
How to Check Your WAEC GCE 2025 1st Series Results
Candidates who sat for the exam can now access their results online by following these steps:
1️⃣ Visit the official WAEC result-checking portal: https://www.waecdirect.org/
2️⃣ Enter your Examination Number
3️⃣ Select Examination Year as 2025
4️⃣ Choose Examination Type as PRIVATE CANDIDATES
5️⃣ Enter your PIN and Serial Number from your scratch card
6️⃣ Click on “Submit” to view your results
Additionally, candidates can now request hard copies of their certificates through the WAEC Certificate Request Portal (e-Certman): https://certrequest.waec.ng.
Important Notice for Candidates
WAEC advises all candidates to check their results promptly and take necessary actions regarding certificate collection. Those whose results are withheld due to alleged malpractice should follow the complaint process as instructed.
